SHUKALB Delivers the “Sampling and Laboratory Procedures for Water and Wastewater” Training Course

As part of its 2019 annual training calendar, SHUKALB delivered the “Sampling and Laboratory Procedures for Water and Wastewater” training course on 21 March 2019, in Tirana. The training was attended by the responsible staff for sampling and lab procedures of water and sewerage utilities of Durres, Saranda, Shkodra, Cerrik and Tepelena.
The training was delivered by trainer Adela Kulla, Professor at the Agricultural University of Tirana, and Biologist at Bovilla Water Treatment Plant.
Some of the learning objectives covered by the training course were:
• Understanding of the importance of proper use of laboratory equipment
• Identification of potential laboratory hazards
• Understanding of different laboratory tests: alkalinity; chlorine residual; chlorine demand; coliform; hardness; jar test; pH; temperature and turbidity

After the classroom presentations, the participants under the direction of the trainer, made a visit to Bovilla Water Treatment Plant, where they were introduced with the techniques of sampling and lab procedures performed at the plant, and experienced a live demonstration of drinking water laboratory analysis.
