The Countdown for the 7th Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition has already started!

The 7th Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition 2019, “Water for All”, which will take place on 6-8 November 2019, at the Emerald Hotel, Prishtina, is just days away.

The Organizing and Program Committees are pleased to share below some of the highlights of the event.

  • High Level Decision Makers

Valdrin Lluka, Minister of Economic Development, Kosova, will deliver a congratulatory address during the Conference Opening Ceremony on 6 November 2019, as well as a greeting speech at the opening of the first working day of Conference sessions, on 7 November 2019.


Fatmir Matoshi, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Kosova,will deliver a congratulatory address during the Conference Opening Ceremony on 6 November 2019, and a greeting speech at the opening of first second working day of Conference sessions on, 8 November 2019.

  • Distinguished Guests

The Conference Opening Ceremony on 6 November 2019 will feature greeting speeches by by several distinguished guests to include  H.E. Jean Hubert- Lebet, Ambassador of Switzerland in Kosovo, H.E. Christian Heldt, Ambassador of Germany in Kosovo, H.E. László Márkusz, Ambassador of Hungary in Kosovo, H.E Piero Cristoforo Sardi, Ambassador of Italy in Kosovo and H.E. Qemal Minxhozi, Ambassador of Albania in Kosovo.

  • Pre Conference Events

Young Water Professionals Forum “YWP Education Towards Career” (Open Activity)

The Young Water Professionals (YWP) Forum will be organized on the 6th of November and it is an open platform for university students and young water professionals (under 35 years old), who are working in in  the water supply and sewerage sector. The Forum is jointly organized by the YWP Group of Albania and Kosovo.  All the interested YWPs are welcome to join the Forum, at no cost. 

Joint Meeting of the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) of Kosovo and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) of Albania on “Test-Based Certification Program” (by invitation only)

The joint meeting between MED and MIE on “Test-Based Certification Program” will be organized on 6th of November and the main objective is to discuss on the progress achieved in the process of Test-based Certification for water services personnel.

This meeting is being organized in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by both Ministries on 7 November 2018, for a Joint Test-Based Certification Program for Water Supply and Wastewater Operators in both countries.  The aim of the MoU was for the respective Ministries to achieve common objectives on capacity building in the water supply and sewerage sector in order to provide safe and reliable water supply and sanitation services for present and for future generations.

Regional Benchmarking HUB Workshop for Kosova & Albania (by invitation only)

The Benchmarking workshop will be organized on the 6th of November and is intended for Coordinators and Directors of water utilities that are part of the SHUKOS-SHUKALB Benchmarking HUB Program, under the Danube Learning Partnership (D-LeaP).   The overall objective of this program is to improve water and wastewater services in the Danube region and raise transparency through benchmarking and learning from each other.

  • Conference Program

The Conference Program will combine plenary sessions, as well as technical parallel sessions, covering a broad and multi-dimensional number of topics from policy to technical, as well as management issues of the water sector.

The Conference will feature two keynote speakers.  The first day, Patricia Lopez, Senior Infrastructure Finance Specialist, World Bank, will deliver a keynote speech on “State of the Sector and Access to Water”.  The second day, Philip Weller, Head of Technical Secretariat, International Association of Water Supply Companies in Danube River Catchment Area, will deliver a keynote speech on “Water Security and Crisis Management”.

  • Social Event

Unlike previous Conferences, this year the Social Event will be held at Studio 21 Culture Club (Studio 21, Str. Garibaldi No.2, Prishtina), one of the most popular clubs situated in the center of Pristina.

All Conference participants are invited to enjoy the entertaining music and drinks and to socialize with each other, experiencing a memorable night.

The Social Event is planned to take place on Thursday, 7 November 2019, between  19:30 and 22:00 hours.

  • Technical Exhibit

You will have the opportunity to visit the Technical Exhibition where over 25 private companies will showcase their very latest products, from pipes, pumps, meters, software to engineering and management services.  You can learn more about the exhibiting companies by visiting this link.


  • SHUKALB and SHUKOS Booth

As traditionally, SHUKALB and SHUKOS have arranged for a dedicated exhibit booth, where Conference participants will be able to find extensive information regarding each of the Associations, from information on membership to information and materials on their respective activities, with a highlight on training and capacity development opportunities..

Water utility operators will have the possibility to win a free registration to one of the joint training courses of SHUKALB and SHUKOS, by participating in the Training Courses Draw.  At the registration desk you will find personalized tickets which you can use to become part of the draw.  The draw for the training course will be held during the coffee break, on 8th of November, during the time interval 11:00-11:30, at the SHUKALB – SHUKOS booth.
