In 2013, the Water Supply and Sewerage Association of Albania (SHUKALB) and the Water
and Wastewater Works Association of Kosovo (SHUKOS), started a tradition to organize the
Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition. Since then, this event has been successfully held
each year, once in Pristina and once in Tirana.
This year, is organized the 8th Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition to be held as a virtual event on 4-6 November 2020.
The Conference Theme, Water and Climate Change, is inspired by the UN’s 2020 World Water Day, and focuses on water and climate change – and how the two are inextricably linked to each other. Climate change possess a real threat to water resources as it impacts the quantity, variability, timing, form, and intensity of precipitation, exhibited through extreme weather events such as droughts and/ or floods, but also rising of sea levels and melting of glaciers. To tackle climate change we need to develop and implement adaptation strategies that integrate stakeholders across different sectors and that are coordinated across borders, focusing on safe and sustainable water management. Beyond this, each one of us has a role to play.
The Balkans Joint Conference and Exhibition has already established itself as a major knowledge sharing and networking event in the Western Balkans water sector, and SHUKALB and SHUKOS are committed to make this year’s virtual event just as interesting and valuable to all the participants. The participants will be able to follow the live streaming of technical sessions, plenary sessions as well as panel discussions. In addition, the participants will be able to visit the virtual exhibit hall and view the products and services offered by our private sector companies who are active in the water sector in the Balkans Region.
