The 2019 Danube Water Conference was held on 20-21 May, 2019, in Vienna, Austria, organized by the Danube Water Program (International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD) and the World Bank) with funding from the Austrian Government.
The theme of the Conference for this year was ““Achieving resilience in water and wastewater utilities in the Danube Region”. The conference brought together more than 150 senior water sector representatives from more than 15 countries who discussed on the progress, challenges and the required future actions to achieve resilient water and sanitation services for all in the Danube region.
SHUKALB was represented at the Conference program by Elisabeta Poci, Deputy Executive Director, who was featured as a panelist at the panel discussion “Why do we need a resilient water sector?” and as a moderator at the session titled “Cooperation as important tool to achieve resilient water and wastewater services”.
The Conference was attended by several stakeholder representatives from Albania, representing several water utilities, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, National Water Supply, Sewerage and Waste Infrastructure Agency and the Water Regulatory Authority.
Other Albanian speakers part of the conference program were Ms. Evis Gjebrea, Deputy General Director, Tirana Water Supply and Sewerage Company, who was a panelist at the session “Managing talent for resilient services”; Ms. Lindita Sotiri, Director of European Integration, Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, as a panelist at session “Sector performance for resilient services” and Ms. Anisa Aliaj, YWP, and former Course Development Specialist for Wastewater Collection and Treatment at SHUKALB, as a co-moderator at the plenary discussion “How to achieve resilient wastewater treatment in the Danube region?”.
