SHUKALB Participates at the 2021 Danube Water Conference

The 2021 Danube Water Conference was held on 19-20 October 2021, organized by the Danube Water Program (International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD) and the World Bank) with funding from the Austrian Government. The Conference was organized fully virtual through the Swapcardon platform.

The theme of the Conference for this year was “Building a Resilient and Water Secure Danube Region”.  The conference brought together more than 250 water experts from around the globe gathered in the virtual space to take a long hard look at future threats and risks, discussing how to innovate, invest, build and communicate their sector out of trouble.

SHUKALB was represented at the Conference program by Elisabeta Poci, Executive Director, who was featured as the Chair of the session “Ask me Anything: Everything you wanted to know about water”, together with Mr. Gustavo Saltiel, Lead Water and Sanitation Specialist, World Bank, US; and as a Speaker at the session “Cooperation as key to sustainable water services”, where she shared, together with Ms. Lindita Sotiri, Director of Development Programs on Water Supply and Sanitation, Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, the experience of SHUKALB working in partnership with MIE for developing the National Training and Test-Based Certification Program for the water utilities in Albania.

The Conference was attended by several stakeholder representatives from Albania, representing several water utilities, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, National Water Supply, Sewerage and Waste Infrastructure Agency and Water Regulatory Authority.

Other Albanian speakers part of the conference program were Ms. Frosela Filo, Head of Finance and Account Department, Korca Water Supply and Sewerage Company, who was a speaker at the Roundtable: How the Utility Management Training supports you to become a Utility of the Future.
