Durres Water Supply and Sewerage Company Working on Finalizing the Construction of the New Water Supply Pipeline and Cleaning the Sewerage Network

Shoqëria Ujësjellës Kanalizime Durrës (UK Durrës) është në fazat finale të punës për ndërtimin e linjës së re të furnizimit me ujë.  Projekti pritet të sjellë, brenda pak muajve, tre herë më shumë ujë në qytetin e Durrësit, duke plotësuar kërkesat e saj për furnizim me ujë.  Ndërtimi i linjës së transmetimit prej 60 km nga puset deri në Durrës, ka përfunduar në pjesën me të madhe, ndërkohe që ka përfunduar ndërtimi i puseve, stacioni i pompave, si dhe dy faza të testimit të linjës.  Artan Cahani, Supervisor i kompanisë Dorsch International Consultans, e cila ndjek ecurinë e punimeve, shprehet se ka përfunduar së ndërtuari 40 km linjë me tubacion të cilësisë së lartë, i cili ka jetëgjatësi dhe garanton furnizimin me ujë të pijshëm sipas parametrave evropiane.

Tenderi për zbatimin e këtij projekti është fituar nga firma gjermane PWT, ndërkohë që firma kontraktore ka kryer edhe punime dhe vepra arti për kalimin e tubacionit sipër lumenjve apo ndërtimin e mikrotuneleve për kalimet e autostradës.  Drejtori i Degës Teknike pranë Ujësjellës Kanalizime Durrës (UK Durrës), Lorenc Facja, shprehet se ujësjellësi i ri do të shërbejë vetëm për të furnizuar me ujë qytetin e Durrësit dhe prurjet e tij do të jenë afro 630 litra ujë në sekondë, sasi kjo tre herë më e madhe sesa furnizimi aktual.

Mënyra se si është konceptuar mbërritja e ujit nga puset deri në Durrës është e tillë: Nga 7 puset që janë hapur me prurje 105 litra në sekondë secili, njëri do të jetë rezervë.  Ata do e dërgojnë ujin 10 km larg, pranë hidrovorit në fshatin Adriatik të Kurbinit, ku gjendet stacioni i pompave dhe depoja me kapacitet 1400 m3.  Nga këtu uji pompohet me anë të 6 pompave (nga 8 në total) drejt depos së Bizës e cila ka kapcitet 700 m3 dhe gjendet në një distancë prej 14.5 km larg nga stacioni i pompave dhe lartësi 186 m mbi nivelin e detit.  Nga kjo depo uji do të mbërrijë me rrjedhje të lirë në Durrës në një gjatësi prej 36 km.

Punimet për ndërtimin e ujësjellësit të ri kanë nisur në muajin shkurt të vitit 2016, pas nënshkrimit të marrëveshjes për financimin në shumën 31.6 milion euro midis Bashkisë Durrës dhe Bankës Botërore

Gjithashtu, UK Durrës po punon për pastrimin e kolektorit kryesor që mbledh ujërat e shiut duke nisur nga hyrja e portit në drejtim të lagjes nr 4.  Kolektori në fjalë është ndërtuar para afro 90 vitesh dhe pastrimi i fundit është bërë në vitin 1982.  Për shkak të mbeturinave të shumta dhe aluvioneve që janë grumbulluar prej vitesh, zona në fjalë përmbytet shpesh në raste reshjesh.  UK Durrës në bashkëpunim me bashkinë e Durrësit ka vënë në dispozicion mjetet  dhe specialistët për të kryer këtë proces.  Kryeinxhinieri i shoqërisë, Gerald Dautaj është shprehur se kjo është faza e parë e  ndërhyrjes që nis nga hyrja para portit deri tek qendra tregtare Bluestar, me gjatësi 650 metër linear.

Në përfundim të kësaj ndërhyrje pritet që të eleminohen përmbytjet që ndodhin në stinën e dimrit.  Punimet për pastrimin e kolektorit po kryhen gjatë orëve të natës për të mos krijuar probleme në qarkullimin e automjeteve në zonën në fjalë.  Paralelisht me ndërhyrjen e ujësjellësit, në zonën që nis nga Brryli në drejtim të stacionit të trenit dhe deri në hyrje të ish Kënetës, me fondet e Bankës Botërore po kryhet investimi për rehabilitimin e rrjetit të kanalizimeve të ujërave të zeza.

Durres Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Durres WSSC) is in the final stages of work for the construction of the new water supply pipeline, the project is expected to bring, within few months, three times more water to the city of Durres, fulfilling its demand for water supply.  The construction of the 60 km transmission line from the well field to Durres has been almost completed, while it has been finalized the construction of the wells, the pump station and two phases of pipeline testing. Artan Cahani, Supervisor at Dorsch International Consultants, who supervises the progress of the works, said that it has been completed the construction of a 40 km line of high quality pipes, which has a long lifespan and guarantees the supply of drinking water according to European standards.

The bidding for the implementation of this project was acquired by the German company PWT, while the contractor company has carried out the works for passing the pipeline over the rivers or construction of micro tunnels for the crossings of the highway.  The Technical Director of Durres WSSC, Lorenc Facja, says that the new water pipeline will supply water only to the city of Durres and its flow capacity will be approximately 630 liters per second, three times more than the current supply.

The way in which the water reaches Durres from the wells is designed as follows: Out of the 7 wells with flow capacity of 105 liters per second each, one well will be kept as a backup.  They will deliver water 10 km away, near the hydropower plant in the village of Adriatik, Kurbin, into a pumping station and reservoir with a capacity of 1,400 m³.  From this point, water is pumped through 6 pumps (out of 8 in total) to the Besa reservoir which has a capacity of 700 m³ and is located at a distance of 14.5 km from the pumping station and 186 m above sea level.  From this reservoir the water will be delivered through gravity flow to city of Durres through a distance of 36 km.

Construction works for the new water supply pipeline started in February 2016, following the signing of a 31.6 million euro financing loan agreement between Durres Municipality and the World Bank.

Besides the construction of the new water supply pipeline, Durres WSSC is working to clean the main rainwater collector, starting from the harbor entrance to neighborhood No. 4. The collector was built approximately 90 years ago and the last cleaning was done in 1982.  Due to wastes accumulated for years, this area is often flooded during rainy seasons.  Durres WSSC in cooperation with the municipality of Durres has ensured the necessary tools and specialists to carry out this process.  The Chief engineer of the utility, Gerald Dautaj said that this is the first phase of the intervention starting from the harbor entrance to the first shopping center Bluestar, with a length of 650 linear meters.  At the end of this intervention is expected to prevent the floods that occur during the winter season.  The works for cleaning the collector are done during the night in order to avoid any problems with the traffic.  In parallel with the cleaning of the main collector, in the area starting from Brryli towards the Durres train station and to the entrance of the former Keneta zone, Durres WSSC is working also on the rehabilitation of the sewerage network, an investment which is funded also by the World Bank.[:]
