Faculty of Civil Engineering of Tirana Organizes the Lecture “Towards Safe, Quality, Pressure and 24×7 Water Supply – Prishtina Challenge Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”

Me datë 13 Maj 2019, në ambjentet e Fakultetit të Inxhinierisë së Ndërtimit (FIN), Tiranë, u zhvillua ligjërata e hapur shkencore me temë “Drejt furnizimit me ujë të sigurt, cilësor, me presion dhe 24×7 – Sfida e Prishtinës Dje, Sot dhe Nesër”, nga Ing. Ilir Abdullahu, Kryeshef Ekzekutiv, Kompania Ujësjellësi Rajonal Prishtinë.

Ligjërata u zhvillua me ftesë të Dekanit të FIN, Prof. Neritan Shkodrani, dhe Departamentit të Hidroteknikës dhe Hidraulikës dhe Departamentit të Inxhinierise së Mjedisit, dhe u organizua dhe bashkëmoderua nga Profesoreshë Enkelejda Gjinali dhe Profesor Alket Kumaraku.

Kjo ligjëratë e hapur vjen ne një kohë kur Shqipëria po promovon një vizion ambicioz dhe serioz në lidhje me Menaxhimin e Integruar të Burimeve Ujore, së bashku me ambicien për të arritur furnizimin me ujë për 24 orë për 7 ditë të javës për 60 qendrat urbane në të gjithë Shqipërinë. Prandaj, dhe eksperienca që Ing. Abdullahu ndau me të pranishmit, ka vlerë të madhe jo vetëm në aspektin akademik dhe të nxitjes së kërkimit shkencor, por njëkohësisht edhe mbi menaxhimin praktik të shoqërive ujësjellës kanalizime.

Në këtë ligjëratë morën pjesë aktive përfaqësues nga SHUKALB, Agjencia Kombëtare e Ujësjellës-Kanalizimeve dhe Infrastrukturës së Mbetjeve (AKUM), Enti Rregullator i Ujit, shoqëritë ujësjellës kanalizime, kompani private, profesorë të FIN, studentë të nivelit Master nga Departamenti i Hidroteknikës dhe Hidraulikës dhe Departamenti i Inxhinierise së Mjedisit.

Ing. Abdullahu paraqiti një pasqyrë të plotë teknike dhe shkencore të furnizimit me ujë të Prishtinës e cila nisi me menaxhimin e burimeve ujore përfshirë edhe ato ndërkufitare, e ndjekur nga Impiantet e trajtimit të ujit të pijshëm, linjat e transmetimit kryesor, rezervuarët, njësitë e klorinimit, rrjetin shpërndarës të ndarë në zona presioni, DMA-të, matësit zonal të presionit, pikat e lidhjes së shërbimit, matësat inteligjent të instaluar tek konsumatori.

Prezantimi u fokusua në mënyrë specifike në çështjen e ujit pa të ardhura.  Si pjesë e hulumtimit të tij mbi trajtimin e ujit pa të ardhura, Ing. Abdullahu paraqiti punën që Kompania e Ujësjellësit Rajonal te Prishtinës ka bërë me instalimin e DMA-ve dhe matësve të presionit të ndjekur nga një analizë korelative të sjelljes së të dyjave.   Për më tepër, Ing. Abdullahu theksoi rëndësinë e madhe të modelimit dhe rimodelimit hidraulik një herë në 20 vjet, rezultatet e të cilit kanë ndihmuar Kompaninë Rajonale të Ujësjellësit të Prishtinës në menaxhimin hidraulik të sistemeve të saj të furnizimit me ujë.

Takimi vazhdoi me një sesison shumë angazhues pyetjesh dhe përgjigjesh nga audienca. Në fund të fjalimit të tij, Ing. Abdullahu ftoi studentët të vizitojnë Kompaninë Rajonale të Ujësjellësit të Prishtinës dhe të shohin nga afër operimin e kompanisë dhe punën e bërë për t’u përballur me sfidën e ujit pa të ardhura.

On 13 May 2019, at the premises of the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FIN), Tirana, it was held the open scientific lecture titled “Towards Safe, Quality, Pressure and 24×7 Water Supply – Prishtina Challenge Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”, presented by Eng. Ilir Abdullahu, Chief Executive Officer, Prishtina Regional Water Company.

The lecture was held by invitation of the Dean of FIN, Prof. Neritan Shkodrani, the Department of Hydrotechnics and Hydraulics, and the Department of Environmental Engineering, and was co-moderated by Professor Enkelejda Gjinali and Professor Alket Kumaraku.

This open lecture comes at a time when Albania is promoting an ambitious and important vision regarding the Integrated Water Resource Management, along with the ambitious objective of achieving a 24 hours water supply service for 7 days a week for 60 urban centers all over Albania.  Therefore, the experience shared by Eng. Abdullahu has a great value not only in the academic aspect and in stimulating scientific research, but at the same time on the practical management of water utilities.

The lecture was attended by representatives from SHUKALB, the National Water Supply-Sewerage and Waste Infrastructure Agency (AKUM), the Water Regulatory Authority, water supply and sewerage companies, private companies, FIN professors, Master level students from the Department of Hydrotechnics and Hydraulics and the Department of Environmental Engineering.

Eng. Abdullahu presented a full technical and scientific overview of the water supply of Prishtina that started with the management of water resources including the transboundary ones, followed by drinking water treatment plants, main transmission lines, reservoirs, chlorination units, distribution network divided in pressure areas, DMAs, service connection points, intelligent meters installed at the customer.

The presentation focused specifically on the non-revenue water issue. As part of his research on tackling non-revenue water, Eng. Abdullahu presented the work that Prishtina Regional Water Company has done with the installation of DMAs and pressure meters followed by a correlation analysis on their behavior.  Furthermore, Eng. Abdullahu highlighted the great importance of hydraulic modeling and remodeling once every 20 years, the results of which have helped Prishtina Regional Water Company in the hydraulic management of its water supply systems.

The meeting continued with a very engaging session of questions and answers from the audience.  At the end of his talk, Eng. Abdullahu invited the students to visit Prishtina Regional Water Company, and to see from close the operations of the Company, and the work done to face the challenge of non-revenue water.
