SHUKALB Delivers Successfully Two Training Courses During March 2021

SHUKALB kicked off its Training and Capacity Development Program for this year with the delivery of two training courses in March, the “Financial Statements and their Role in Decision Making” and “Management” training courses. These trainings were delivered online via Zoom platform.

The first training, “Financial Statements and their Role in Decision Making” was delivered on 9-10 March 2021, at SHUKALB’s offices and it was broadcasted online to participants using an advanced technology of video and audio transmission.

The training course was attended by the heads of the financial, commercial and accounting departments from the Water Utilities of Shkoder, Lezhe, Durres, Kruje, Kamez, Pogradec and Vlore.  The training was delivered by PhD. Mirela Miti, Lecturer, Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana.

During the two days of the training course, the participants were introduced to topics related to the general frame of financial statements including the financial position, performance statements, cash flow, the rules for implementation of accounting policies, accounting estimates, accounting and error correction, presentation of economic events, after the financial statements closure date, the role of financial statements in the decision-making process for senior management levels, provisions, liabilities and contingent assets, deferred tax, cots of capital, performance statement elements, and model of regulated asset base.

Participants were engaged in several practical exercises related to the topics presented and were introduced to case studies, such as the Balance sheet of Lezha Water Supply and Sewerage Company.

The “Management” training course was delivered during 23-24 March 2021, with the participation of the managers of finance, trade, technical, sewerage network, water supply network departments, as well as administrators, from Water Supply and Sewerage Utilities of Shkodra, Lezha, Kruja, Berat-Kucova, Saranda and Korca. The training was delivered by trainer Arian Gjorga, Consultant and Expert in Management.

The training provided participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to cope with everyday challenges and improve the utility performance in the areas of management processes, communication, human relations, organizational culture, problem solving, planning and organizing, decision making and financial management.

Besides the presentations on the key management principles, although delivered over a virtual platform, the trainer managed to engage the participants in discussions, by providing them space to share their experiences and techniques used in their respective water utilities.[:]
