SHUKALB Conducts Training at Water Utilities in the Framework of the “Water Safety Plan and Crisis Management” Program

Between September 28^th and October 4^th, 2021, SHUKALB conducted the 4^th and the last training at the water utilities of Gramsh, Lushnje, Patos, Belsh and Berat-Kucove, in the framework of implementing the D-LeaP Water Safety Plan and Crisis Management (WSP&CM) Program. The WSP&CM Program is implemented by SHUKALB in the framework of the Regional Capacity Development Network (RCDN*) Project.

SHUKALB team was composed by the lead trainer Migena Kukli, co trainer Elton Hasanaj, as well the Executive Director, Elisabeta Poçi. Beside the utilities top management staff, in Belsh and Lushnja, the training was attended also by representatives from the respective Municipalities.

During the training, the utilities staff presented the work done so far, on the Water Safety Plan, the water supply system inputted in the Google Earth program and the Crisis Management Organization Chart.

With assistance from the trainers, the participants were able to simulate the role of crisis manager and the other key positions in the case of responding to a crisis situation, mastering the 60 ‘framework of situation assessment and decision making. In addition, they completed and presented the draft Water Safety Plan and the draft Crisis Management Plan of their respective utilities.

As the next and final steps of the program, the water utilities will finalize the Water Safety Plan and the Crisis Management Plan, and will officially approve them through the Administrative Council as internal documents to be used and referred to in case of a crisis event.

* RCDN is a project being implemented by the GIZ-Open Regional Fund (ORF) and financed by the Swiss and German Governments, and aims at establishing a self-sustaining Regional Capacity Development Network, with 16 local government and water associations in the region.[:]
