Taking Action: Himara Water Supply and Sewerage Company Launches Door-to-Door ‘Refresh Your Data’ Initiative for the Community

Himara Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Himara WSSC) has initiated an important process to improve its Customer Relationship Management with the aim of increasing its performance, supported by institutional consultancy within the social measures of the Rural Water Supply Program IV.

As part of its daily work and with the aim of guaranteeing a high standard toward its customers, Himara WSSC began implementing the “Refresh Data – Water Bill #UKHimarë” initiative in December 2022. The company provides its services in the areas of supplying potable water and collecting and treating wastewater to 6,647 households, private and public consumers in the Municipality of Himara.

This action is accompanied by an awareness campaign for consumers through communication tools such as posters in public spaces of the three administrative units of the Municipality of Himara, posters in the Himara WSSC points and public areas, as well as on the social media Facebook and Instagram of the Himara WSSC.

The company has started this process to support its objective of strengthening cooperation and transparency with customers in its service areas in the Municipality of Himara, as well as avoiding inaccurate statements by its customers. The field teams of Himara WSSC are going door-to-door in every area where the company provides its services to ensure the accuracy of customer data on the water bill.

The documents required to refresh the data in the standardized forms are: for family consumers, the ID card and water bill; and for public and private consumers, the VAT number of the entity and water bill.

Himara WSSC through the awareness campaign calls on customers to come directly to their offices and points to refresh and update their billing information if they will not be present when the teams go to their homes/objects/properties.

Himara WSSC has stated in its awareness campaign that any information and document provided by customers will be used for the sole purpose for which they are requested, whether for this data refresh process that customers will perform or in case they have signed new contracts with the Himara WSSC.

Himara WSSC aims to offer quality water supply, sewerage, and wastewater treatment services for its consumers. It aims to operate efficiently, be transparent and all-inclusive, oriented towards providing quality service for its consumers, while supporting sustainable development, protecting the health of citizens and the environment and the coastal areas, as well as contributing to the growth of the local economy and tourism.

The initiative and campaign “Refresh Your Data – Water Bill #UKHimarë” and its implementation in internal and external processes of UK Himarë is supported by the institutional consultancy under accompanying measures implemented by GFA and ValuAdd within the Rural Water Supply Program IV (RWSPIV). RWSP IV is financed by the Federal Government of the Republic of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW), and the Albanian government. The project is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund.

Any activities and implementation in the field are based on the implementation of the legal framework: i) Law No. 8102, dated 28.03.1999, “On the regulatory framework of the water supply and wastewater sector” as amended; ii) Law No. 8975, dated 21.11.2002 “On the treatment of drinking water tax bills as an executive title” as amended; iii) Law No. 87/2019, dated 18.12.2019 “On the invoice and circulation monitoring system”; iv) Law No. 9902, dated 17.4.2008 “On the Protection of Consumers” as amended; v) Law No. 9887, dated 10.3.2008 “On the Protection of Personal Data” as amended; as well as other legal and sub-legal acts regulating the exercise of Himara WSSC activities.
