SHUKALB Joins the Bali Coalition to Strengthen Training in the Water Sector
SHUKALB has recently joined the Bali Coalition which aims to promote training as an essential tool to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in particular access to drinking water and sanitation.
The Bali Coalition will be launched during the 10th World Water Forum, on 18 to 25 May in Bali, Indonesia, and has been supported so far by many representatives of public and private operators of municipal water and sanitation services, local authorities, governments, international organizations, international financial institutions, basin organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
SHUKALB strongly believes that there can be no safe and sustainable water supply and sanitation services without a competent and well-trained workforce. It is SHUKALB’s mission and commitment to work with the stakeholders to foster an enabling regulatory environment that encourages training in the water sector, and to dedicate time and resources to developing and delivering relevant and high-quality training programs to the water utilities in Albania. Furthermore, SHUKALB has worked in partnership with the Government of Albania to develop a National Training and Test Based Certification Program for the staff of water utilities in Albania, and institutionalized program that is currently under implementation.
Joining the Bali Coalition makes our voice stronger when advocating on the need for training in the water sector, and it is in line with our mission as a professional organization and our activities related to training and capacity development.
