SHUKALB Launches its Water Awareness and Outreach Program “Friends of Water” for 2025

SHUKALB has launched the implementation of its awareness and outreach program “Friends of Water” for 2025. The program aims to educate young generations about the importance of water and the protection of water resources. The program is dedicated to third-grade students at primary schools and is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

This year, the “Friends of Water” program includes 6 water supply and sewerage utility companies and 12 primary schools across 6 municipalities: Elbasan, Berat, Shkoder, Lezhe, Vlore, and Fier. The implementation of the program in these municipalities is carried out in partnership with the Municipal Infrastructure Program (WPIP/MIP V).

During October, SHUKALB organized training sessions with teachers from the participating schools, who will lead the students through various educational activities within the program. As part of the activities, teachers will dedicate classroom time for children to express their ideas through drawings, highlighting the importance of water and the protection of water resources.

The children’s drawings will first be displayed in local exhibitions in each participating municipality. Later, the three best drawings from each school will be selected to become part of the National Exhibition “Water Through the Eyes of Children”, which SHUKALB will organize on 15 December 2025, at Europe House, Tirana.

Through this program, SHUKALB aims to foster an early connection between children and environmental care, making them the true “friends of water”, and the future guardians of a sustainable water sector in Albania.
