On March 19, 2026, at The Plaza Hotel, the Ministry of Education and Sports of Albania in cooperation with the British Council organized a National Conference on “After-School Education in Albania – Policies, Standards and Models for Inclusive Development”. The conference brought together policymakers, national and international experts, institutional representatives, organizations, and members of the education community to discuss the transformative role of after-school education in developing 21st-century skills.
Within this important national platform, SHUKALB was invited to contribute to the discussions, recognizing its several years of experience in designing and implementing educational and awareness-raising programs for children, developed in close collaboration with the Ministry.
Discussions focused on policy and strategic frameworks for extracurricular activities, international best practices, and inclusive models that support the holistic development of students and the building of future-ready competencies.
As part of the thematic roundtables, Elisabeta Poçi, Executive Director, and Olta Alla, Manager of Programs, represented SHUKALB at Roundtable 8: “Nature and Sustainability: Environmental Education in Action.”
During the session, SHUKALB representatives shared their practical experience in implementing educational programs, with a particular focus on environmental awareness and water resource management. The discussion addressed potential challenges in developing and scaling after-school programs, including institutional coordination, resource allocation, and community engagement.
Drawing from SHUKALB’s experience, they highlighted concrete solutions to address these challenges, emphasizing the value of structured awareness programs and partnerships with schools and institutions. Their contribution underlined how environmental education, particularly on water protection and sustainable use, can be effectively integrated into after-school activities, supporting the development of responsible and environmentally conscious young citizens.
SHUKALB remains committed to strengthening awareness and education in the water sector, continuing to support initiatives that engage younger generations and contribute to a more sustainable future.
