SHUKALB Participates at General Assembly of IWA

Më 23 shtator, në Pragë, Republika Çeke, Shoqata Ndërkombëtare e Ujit (IWA) organizoi Asamblenë e Përgjithshme, ku SHUKALB, si Anëtare Drejtuese e vazhdueshme e IWA-së, u përfaqësua nga Z. Philip Giantris, Drejtor Ekzekutiv; Z. Petrit Tare, Kryetar i SHUKALB dhe Drejtor i Shoqërisë Ujësjellës Kanalizime Korçë; dhe Znj. Arlinda Ibrahimllari, Kryetare e Profesionistëve të Rinj të Ujit të Shqipërisë dhe Kryetare e Komitetit Drejtues për Zhvillimin e Udhëheqësve të Ujit të IWA-së.

Në fillim të Asamblesë së Përgjithshme, u prezantua dhe u përshëndet Drejtori Ekzekutiv i sapoemëruar i IWA-së, z. Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy.  Takimi vazhdoi me një pasqyrë të arritjeve kryesore gjatë 12 muajve të fundit; një raport financiar dhe raport auditimi, dhe një diskutim të Anëtarëve të Bordit dhe Asamblesë së Përgjithshme mbi drejtimin e ardhshëm të IWA-së.

Në fund të Asamblesë, u prezantua Task Force e IWA-së për Objektivat e Zhvillimit të Qëndrueshëm (SDG), në të cilën Znj. Arlinda Ibrahimllari u emërua anëtare e PRU-së së Task Force.  Objektivi kryesor i kësaj Task Force është të promovojë objektivat e SDG-së në lidhje me ujin për të nxitur pronësi nga Anëtarët Drejtues të IWA-së dhe aktorë të ujit, si dhe për të siguruar që SDG-të të përkthehen në plane veprimi kombëtare dhe lokale.

Para organizimit të Asamblesë së Përgjithshme, më 22 shtator, u mbajt një takim i Anëtarëve Drejtues në Rajonin e Ballkanit Perëndimor, ku u prezantua përvoja e programit të Profesionistëve të Rinj të Ujit të Shqipërisë si një shembull shumë i mirë.  Qëllimi i përgjithshëm i takimit ishte prezantimi i marrëveshjes ndërmjet Shoqatës Ndërkombëtare të Kompanive të Furnizimit me Ujë të Basenit të Lumit të Danub (IAWD) dhe IWA-së; për të prezantuar aktivitetet e IAWD-së në rajon; për të diskutuar mbi planet e IWA-së për rajonin dhe për të marrë feedback-un e pjesëmarrësve mbi bashkëpunime të mundshme.[:en]

On 23 September, in Prague, Czech Republic, the International Water Association (IWA) organized its General Assembly, where SHUKALB, as a continuous Governing Member of IWA, was represented by Mr. Philip Giantris, Executive Director; Mr. Petrit Tare, President of SHUKALB and Director of Korca Water Supply and Sewerage Company; and Ms. Arlinda Ibrahimllari, Chair of the Young Water Professionals of Albania and Chair of the IWA Emerging Water Leaders Steering Committee.

At the beginning of the General Assembly, the newly named Executive Director of IWA, Mr. Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy, was introduced and welcomed.  The meeting continued with a review of the major accomplishments over the past 12 months; a financial report and auditor’s report, and a discussion with Board Members and General Assembly on Future Direction of IWA.

At the end of the Assembly, the IWA Task Force on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) was introduced, and this included Ms. Arlinda Ibrahimllari, who was appointed as the YWP member of the Task Force.  The main objective of this Task Force is to promote the water-related SDG targets to foster ownership by IWA Governing Members and water stakeholders, and to ensure that SDG’s are translated into national and local action plans.

Prior the General Assembly, on 22 September, a meeting of the Governing Members in the Western Balkans Region was held, where the experience of YWP program of Albania was presented as a very good example.  The overall purpose of the meeting was to introduce the agreement between International Association of Water Utilities in the Danube Catchment Area (IAWD) and IWA; to present IAWD’s activities in the region; and to discuss with IWA plans for the region to get the participants’ feedback on potential cooperation.[:]
