New Investments of Kamza Water Supply and Sewerage Company Promise Significant Improvement of Services for the Citizens of Kamza

The cooperation of Kamza Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Kamza WSSC), Kamza Municipality, and the German Development Bank (KFW), is bringing a series of large investments that aim to improve significantly the quality of water supply and sewerage services for the inhabitants of Kamza.  Currently, Kamza WSSC is in the fourth phase of implementation of these investments, which include the following:

• Construction of the new Administrative Building for Kamza WSSC
• Rehabilitation of Old Bovilla Source
• Installation of SCADA system
• Extension of water supply network
• Wells Rehabilitation

The administrative building is an already completed investment and will be a multifunctional building. Every institution needs to identify with a building of its own, which leads to increased employee performance and improved customer service.

Ongoing projects:

• Extension of water supply network

This project will bring a significant improvement of the water supply in the Bathore area. The network will have a length of 64.9 km of water supply lines, 17.2 km of pipes for customer connections, and in addition it will add to the network 4,200 new customers.

The rehabilitation of Valias Wells is also part of this investment. Based on the studies made and the needs of the Municipality of Kamza for water supply, it was deemed necessary to invest in two additional wells.  According to the engineering operation, these wells will be put into operation in an alternate manner, in order to avoid possible breakdowns.

• Installation of SCADA system

Measuring, recording and data transmission equipment/fittings will be installed at all pumping stations, reservoirs and in the water distribution network. All information coming from different part of the system, will be connected into a comprehensive SCADA system covering the water supply system of the city of Kamza.

The use of these devices to collect information will improve the operational control of the entire water distribution system (springs, pumping stations, reservoirs, distribution network areas).

The SCADA system for Kamza WSSC ensures the integration and connection of:
– The old source of Bovilla

– Maloku Reservoir

– Hoxhaj Reservoir

– Valias Wells

– Zonal and bulk meters in the distribution network

– Control center in the new administration building of Kamza WSSC.

• Automatic Chlorination

In order to improve the existing disinfection method, a new chlorination building has been constructed at the Bovilla spring that will do automatic injection of chlorine directly into the pipeline depending on the pipeline inflows.The same procedure will be applied in the wells of Valias, where in well no. 4 the same chlorination system will be implemented as in Bovilla.[:]
