SHUKALB Kicks-off the RCDN’s Capacity Development Program on “Introduction of Wastewater Systems for Managers and Engineers”

On 22 and 23 September 2022, in Tirana, SHUKALB delivered successfully the 2-day training on “Regulation and Financing”, in framework of the Capacity Development Program titled “Introduction of Wastewater Systems for managers and engineers”, which is being piloted for the first time in the framework of the Project Regional Capacity Development Network for Water and Sanitation Services (RCDN).

The training was attended by representatives from Water Supply and Sewerage Companies of Vlora, Shkoder, Lezhe, Kamez, Fier and Himare, as well as Municipalities of Vlore and Lezhe. The training was led by Prof. Enkelejda Gjinali, Lecturer, Polytechnic University of Tirana and Irisi Gjonaj, Head of Asset Registration and Reporting Sector, General Directorate of Financial Management, Municipality of Tirana.

At the opening of the first day of the training, the participants were greeted by Elisabeta Poçi, Executive Director of SHUKALB and Zvonko Naumoski, Advisor for Capacity Development, GIZ ORF MMS.

Beside the presentation held by the trainers, participants engaged in several practical group exercises, and in interactive discussions regarding the topics presented.

Participants will now be able to:

• To recognize the importance of the full legal framework for wastewater at the international, national and local level.
• To recognize the importance of the full institutional framework for wastewater at the international, national and local level.
• Interpret the legal framework at the national and local level.
• Interpret the institutional framework at the national and local level.
• To initiate proposals for investments in the infrastructure of sewerage and wastewater treatment.
• To interpret the cost structure for the provision of sewerage and wastewater services.
• To plan and develop campaigns for customers awareness on wastewater, its treatment and reuse after treatment.

This 2-day training was the first one of the “Introduction of Wastewater Systems for Managers and Engineers” program. The program will continue during the months of October-November 2022, with the delivery of 2 trainings on “Technologies” and “Management of Infrastructure Projects”, and a peer exchange on “Management of Infrastructure Projects”.
