As a result of the national water sector aggregation reform, Korça Regional Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Korça RWSS Company) now administers the former water utilities of Devoll, Korça, Pustec, Maliq and Kolonja. The investments made by Korça RWSS Company have been divided among these 5 water utilities taken under administration. Investments are mainly being made in the most problematic areas that need improvement of the water supply infrastructure.
One of these areas is the village of Hoçisht in Devoll Municipality. The previous drinking water supply system, which included the catchment, the main water supply line from the catchment to the reservoir and the internal distribution network was deteriorated and did not ensure the normal supply in terms of quantity and quality of the service.
As a result, it was deemed necessary to intervene in the entire system. The Municipality of Devoll carried out all the investment in terms of catchment, external network, internal network as well as the reconstruction of the reservoir, while Korça RWSS Company equipped the entire area with water meters, to enable the regular measurement of the amount of water consumed by the residents.
Thanks to this investment, 370 families have now benefited from a better water supply service.
