SHUKALB Strengthens Training Expertise in Wastewater Management

From March 4-6, 2025, SHUKALB trainers participated in a specific Training of Trainers (ToT) in Prishtina, Kosovo, as part of the Regional Capacity Development Network’s (RCDN) Wastewater Capacity Development Program. The training, titled “Introduction to Wastewater Systems for Managers and Engineers”, aimed to enhance trainers’ technical and methodological skills for delivering wastewater training in Albania and Kosovo.

Representing SHUKALB were Olta Alla, Program Manager and Training Coordinator, along with professionals from Korça and Durrës Regional Water Utility Companies and the Municipality of Lushnje. Trainers from Una Consulting, guided participants through key topics such as legal and financial frameworks, wastewater treatment technologies, customer relations, and capacity development methodologies.

The training covered a broad spectrum of essential topics. Participants explored the regulatory framework of the wastewater sector, including legal, institutional, and financial aspects, along with tariff structures and customer relations. A significant focus was placed on wastewater treatment technologies, comparing centralized and decentralized systems, sludge management, and key criteria for system selection. Through hands-on exercises and group discussions, trainers developed country-specific training designs to ensure the effective delivery of the program.

The ToT concluded with action planning for Albania and Kosovo, setting the stage for future training sessions. SHUKALB has scheduled the delivery of the RCDN Wastewater Capacity development program this year, starting in April.
