Tirana Water Utility Company Organizes Advanced Training on Integrated Water Resource Management

From May 26 to May 30, 2025, the Tirana Water Utility Company (UKT) organized one of the most advanced training programs on Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), within the framework of the CrossWater+ project, supported by the IPA Interreg Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme.
The event gathered representatives from Tirana Water Utility (UKT), Acquedotto Pugliese SpA (Italy), Regionalni Vodovod Crnogorsko Primorje (Montenegro), Tirana Municipality, the World Bank, and SHUKALB.
Over five days, Albanian professionals and international partners shared practical experiences and cutting-edge solutions to foster more integrated and sustainable water resource management. The program featured:
Sessions on smart technologies and digitalization of water networks
Sustainable water governance and policy discussions
Technical site visits to the Durrës Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Bovilla Water Treatment Plant and Dam, and UKT’s advanced laboratories

A highlight of the program was the series of presentations by Mr. Leonat Muskollari, Business Development Manager for Municipal Water – Albania at Veolia, who shared Veolia’s cutting-edge approaches and international experience:
Water Leakage Solutions – Technologies & Best Practices
Green Technology for Water Scarcity – Innovations & Sustainability
Digital & Smart Water Management – AI & IoT Solutions
Participants showed strong interest in Veolia’s solutions, particularly those applicable to the Albanian context. Special focus was placed on Hubgrade, Veolia’s digital performance platform, recognized as a scalable, intelligent tool for improving operational efficiency.
This training represents a significant step forward in modernizing Albania’s water sector and advancing alignment with European standards.
