Elisabeta Poçi, Executive Director of SHUKALB, Participates at the 2nd European Forum on the Regulation of Water Services

On 1^st of December 2021, the European Association of Water Regulators (WAREG) organized the 2^nd edition of the European Forum on the Regulation of Water Services (EFRWS). The 2^nd EFRWS was organized around the green transition and the actions taken by European institutions and by national regulators to improve circular economy‐based activities in the water sector.

SHUKALB was represented at the forum by Elisabeta Poçi, Executive Director, who was featured as a speaker at the Panel 4: Water Challenges in the Balkans, sharing SHUKALB’s experience with its Training and Certification Programs. The panel focused on some of the main challenges, achievements and urgent needs in the water and wastewater sector in EU Candidate Countries, and the role of national regulators in implementing the EU legislative acquis on water. The panel was co-moderated by Ndriçim Shani, Chairman of the Albanian Water Regulatory Authority, and Walter Kling, President of the International Association of Water Service Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD).

The session featured also the presentation of Georgi Hristov, GIZ, who shared the experience with implementing Integrated Asset Management solutions, as well as the presentation of Philip Weller, IAWD, who presented the IAWD Benchmarking Program for water utilities. Both of these programs are regional in nature, and they are being offered for the water utilities in the Western Balkans for several years now, through the water associations in the respective countries, including SHUKALB.[:]
