Korca Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Korca WSSC) has started at the beginning of this year the implementation of the project for investments in water supply system in the Administrative Units of the Municipality of Korca. The project is funded by the Albanian Government and consists mainly in the construction of water reservoirs, pumping stations, water transmission lines, the replacement of the depreciated network and the construction of chlorination rooms. In total, the project involves works in 11 villages, with duration of about 9 months.
Construction of 10 kV transmission line and 100 kVA electric transformer cabin
Prior to the Project, the village of Porodine suffered from intermittent water supply due to the lack of an electric transmission line for the pumping station.
The construction of the electric line for the power supply of the pumping station, as well as the construction of the respective electric cabin, will guarantee the appropriate water supply for this village.
Construction of a new water distribution network in the village of Pulahe, construction of a chlorination room at the existing reservoir and diversion of the Vithkuq line
In the village of Pulahe, the existing water distribution network was depreciated. The existing reservoir lacked a chlorination room. The part of the Vithuqi line that passes near the lake of this village has had some defects on its length and the presence of water in the lake made it difficult to repair them.
For these reasons there was a need to build a new water distribution network as well as a chlorination room near the existing reservoir. The Vithkuq water distribution line can be diverted by shifting from the existing trail which passes into the lake. This by passes the segment of the line that has defects and guarantees access to the line in the future.
Construction of a new water distribution network in the village of Barç and a transmission line from the pumping station to the reservoir
In the village of Barç, the existing water distribution network was depreciated. The water sources that supply the reservoir of this village are relatively unstable and in some cases do not guarantee the needed amount of water.
That is why it was necessary to build a new water distribution network, as well as to construct a transmission line together with a pumping station and tanker which will enable the connection of the existing village reservoir to the city water distribution network. Thus, in cases when the village water resources do not guarantee the required amount of water, the station will be put into operation.
Construction of a new distribution network in the village of Voskop, construction of chlorination rooms for each reservoir and transmission line from the pumping station to the reservoir
In the village of Voskop, the existing distribution network was depreciated. The water resources that supply the reservoirs of this village are relatively stable, but in some short periods of the year they could not guarantee the required amount of water. There was a lack of chlorination rooms in each reservoir and the respective enclosures.
For these reasons, it was necessary to build a new water distribution network, chlorination rooms along with their enclosures and existing reservoirs, and to build a transmission line to connect the Toplec spring with the village reservoirs. The existing building of the pumping station near this spring was reconstructed together with the catchment building which was depreciated.
Construction of a transmission line from the pumping station to the reservoir in village of Mborje
In the village of Mborje, the springs that supply the reservoirs are relatively unstable and in some cases do not guarantee the required amount of water.
That’s why it was necessary to build a new transmission line together with a pumping station and tanker to enable connection of the existing village reservoirs to the city network.
Replacement of a part of the water distribution network in the village of Morava
In the village of Morava, an existing segment of the water distribution network made of galvanized steel pipeline was in a depreciated condition and often defective. Thus, it was needed to replace this pipeline by building on its trail a new one, which will guarantee the water supply of this part of the village and will avoid the defects.
