Embassy of Hungary, the Hungarian Water Utility Association (MaV\u00edz), and the Budapest Waterworks Utility, in collaboration with the Water Supply and Sewerage Association of Albania (SHUKALB), organized a Conference titled \u201cAlbania-Hungary: Connecting Business and Water Professionals\u201d, at PlazaHotel, in Tirana.\u00a0 With an audience of over 200 participants, the Conference reached its goal to provide an effective platform for discussion, and to strengthen the cooperation and knowledge transfer between the water professionals and businesses of the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The Conference was attended by participants from different institutions from countries such as ministries, municipalities, government agencies, water utilities, private companies, water sector professionals, banks, and different businessmen.<\/p>\n<p>The Conference was opened by the Co-Chairs of the Hungarian-Albanian Joint Economic Cooperation, represented by Ms. Adela Karapici, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Albania and Mr. Levente Magyar, Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.\u00a0 Both ministers praised the importance of this event and stressed the good will of their respective ministries for strengthening the economic cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The Conference continued with the signing of Memorandum of Understandings between different institutions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SHUKALB and the Hungarian Water Utility Association (MaViz)<\/li>\n<li>Ministry of National Development of Hungary and the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Albania<\/li>\n<li>\n<figure Business Albania<\/li>\n<li>Global Sport Kft Hungary and Ardian Cani (Sports Turf Albania)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Memorandum of Understanding between SHUKALB and MaViz was signed by Mr. Petrit Tare, President of SHUKALB and Ms. Edit Nagy, Secretary General of MaViz. \u00a0The aim of the MoU is the knowledge transfer and exchange of experience in the fields of water supply, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment and sewage sludge management between the two Associations.<\/p>\n<p>As per the agenda, the Conference then broke up into two tracks with a multi-sectoral business forum taking place in a different room private companies had the opportunity to meet with each other and different institutions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1494\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1494\" Albania<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Water Sector element of the Conference continued in the main room with the speeches by the special guests, Mr. Sokol Dervishaj, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Albania, and Mr. Istv\u00e1n Jo\u00f3, Ministerial Commissioner for Water Diplomacy, Export and the Danube Region Strategy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.\u00a0 Minister Dervishaj, spoke about the state of the water sector in Albania and on the many investments undertaken by the Albanian government in efforts to improve the sector.<\/p>\n<figure
