Water must not contain toxic substances or organisms that may cause diseases. A treatment plant consists of a series of treatment processes, such as: aeration, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection.This training course aims at identifying and explaining the procedures on operation and maintenance of these processes.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>arget Group<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This training course is developed for professionals of water supply and sewerage utilities and\u00a0 it is especially useful for technicians and engineers working in the water treatment plant.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ob<\/strong><strong>jectives of the Training Course<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>At the end of this training course, the participants will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify the operating problems associated with aeration and know the solutions to minimize the problems;<\/li>\n<li>List the typical functions performed by an operator in the normal operation of the coagulation and flocculation process;<\/li>\n<li>Perform a jar test;<\/li>\n<li>List the safety hazards on operator may encounter when operating coagulation \u2013flocculation process;<\/li>\n<li>Know the procedures to operate and maintain the coagulation \u2013flocculation process;<\/li>\n<li>Know the procedures to operate a sedimentation process and maintain the associated equipment items;<\/li>\n<li>Know the procedures to operate and maintain filter process;<\/li>\n<li>Collect samples from basins;<\/li>\n<li>Know the procedures to operate and maintain chlorination equipment;<\/li>\n<li>Select the proper chlorine dosage;<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshoot and solve corrosion problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Method<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The training is based on lectures presented in Power Point, combined with discussions. In addition to lectures and discussions, participants will analyse specific case studies.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Course Materials<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The participants of this training course will be provided with the Training Manual on \u201cWater Treatment Plant Operation and Maintenance\u201d.
