Water must not contain toxic substances or organisms that may cause diseases. A treatment plant consists of a series of treatment processes, such as: aeration, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection. In this training course the participants will learn the basic knowledge on water \u00a0sources and their characteristics. The training course will address and discuss the programs and methods of reservoirs management and their advantages. In addition, it will identify and describe the types of intake structures, as well as their operation and maintenance procedures.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>arget Group<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This training course is developed for professionals of water supply and sewerage utilities and it is especially useful for directors of technical department, operation and maintenance engineers, and production and design engineers.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ob<\/strong><strong>jectives of the Training Course<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>At the end of this training course, the participants will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know the hydrologic cycle;<\/li>\n<li>Recognize the physical and chemical characteristics of water source;<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the sustainability of a water source for drinking purposes;<\/li>\n<li>Recognize the factors affecting water quality;<\/li>\n<li>Know the advantages of a reservoir management program;<\/li>\n<li>Implement the appropriate methods of reservoir management and water quality improvement;<\/li>\n<li>Safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot intake facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Method<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The training is based on lectures presented in Power Point, combined with discussions. In addition to lectures and discussions, participants will analyse specific case studies.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Course Materials<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The participants of this training course will be provided with the Training Manual on \u201cWater Sources and Intake\u00a0 Structures\u201d.
