This training course aims at introducing the basic operation and maintenance components of small water systems. In addition, the identification of problems, their causes and repair will also be explained and discussed during the course.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>arget Group<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This training course is developed for professionals of water supply and sewerage utilities and it is especially useful for maintenance and operation engineers and technicians.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ob<\/strong><strong>jectives of the Training Course<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>At the end of this training course, the participants will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know and explain the water system components and identify typical water system schemes;<\/li>\n<li>Know the four major categories of water quality classification;<\/li>\n<li>Identify the parts of a well and pumping system and the procedures to maintain and rehabilitate a well;<\/li>\n<li>Operate and maintain a well pump and identify the problems;<\/li>\n<li>Identify the purpose of a water treatment plant and explain its importance;<\/li>\n<li>Identify the types \u00a0of \u00a0contaminants that could get into a water distribution system;<\/li>\n<li>Explain the importance of a water distribution system surveillance program;<\/li>\n<li>Explain the importance of a cross &#8211; connection control program;<\/li>\n<li>Pperate and maintain the water facilities;<\/li>\n<li>Protect the storage facilities from corrosion and conduct their disinfection;<\/li>\n<li>Know the basic formula to calculate the areas, volume, pressure, velocity and flow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Method<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The training is based on lectures presented in Power Point, combined with discussions. In addition to lectures and discussions, participants will analyse specific case studies.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Course Materials<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The participants of this training course will be provided with the Training Manual on \u201cSmall Water Systems\u201d.
