Water in motion produces forces and pressure whenever the velocity, flow direction or elevation changes. Identifying the pressure and flow at a certain point of the pipe, helps determining the pipe size and capacity. In addition, it helps to identify the type of pipeline material needed in a specific situation. Furthermore, possessing a good knowledge in hydraulics helps managers to decide whether the water pressure reducers or pumps are necessary for transporting water in an effective manner.
