In order to achieve this quality in the most efficient way, water utility operators must know the mathematical calculations necessary for water treatment processes. Participants in this training course will increase their knowledge in hydraulic concepts, pump power and efficiency calculations, and coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection processes. Also the course will focus on hard water and how it can be softened.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>arget Group<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This training course is developed for professionals of\u00a0 water supply and sewerage utilities which responsibilities include treatment plant designing, water treatment and water distribution. It is also for laboratory personal which monitors the water quality at exits point of \u00a0the \u00a0treatment\u00a0 plant \u00a0and \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0supply system.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ob<\/strong><strong>jectives of the Training Course<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>At the end of this training course, the participants will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Calculate water parameters such as head, pressure, gauge pressure, discharge;<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate pumps power and efficiency;<\/li>\n<li>Perform water source calculation, drawdown, head, yield, specific yield;<\/li>\n<li>Calculate iron and manganese removal;<\/li>\n<li>Perform coagulant and\u00a0 flocculation calculations;<\/li>\n<li>Perform calibration calculations for dry chemical and chemical solution feeders;<\/li>\n<li>Calculate filtration flow rate;<\/li>\n<li>Chlorine dosage, demand and residual;<\/li>\n<li>Calculate calcium, magnesium, carbonate and noncarbonated hardness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Method<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The training is based on lectures presented in Power Point, combined with discussions. In addition to lectures and discussions, participants will analyse specific case studies by engaging in exercises that include the use of utility\u2019s data.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>T<\/strong><strong>r<\/strong><strong>aining Course Materials<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The participants of this training course will be provided with the Training Manual on \u201cApplied Mathematics for Water Treatment Operators\u201d.
