Me 28 N\u00ebntor, Marku dhe Beck u takuan me Ledio \u00c7el\u00ebn, Drejtor i UK Kruj\u00eb, ku diskutuan problemet e shkaktuara n\u00eb rrjetin e uj\u00ebsjell\u00ebsit. \u00a0Swiss Humanitarian Aid dhe SHUKALB ofruan ndihm\u00ebn dhe ekspertiz\u00ebn e tyre p\u00ebr sigurin\u00eb e ujit, dhe k\u00ebshilluan shoq\u00ebrin\u00eb q\u00eb t\u00eb intensifikoj\u00eb monitorimin e cil\u00ebsis\u00eb s\u00eb ujit n\u00eb k\u00ebto zona. \u00a0Bazuar n\u00eb inspektimet e kryera n\u00eb terren, u vu re se n\u00eb p\u00ebrgjith\u00ebsi shoq\u00ebria e kishte menaxhuar mir\u00eb situat\u00ebn, me disa defekte t\u00eb vogla q\u00eb ishin riparuar nga vet\u00eb stafi i shoq\u00ebris\u00eb.<\/p>\n

M\u00eb von\u00eb at\u00eb dit\u00eb, ekipi organizoi nj\u00eb takim me Drejtorin Teknik t\u00eb UK Durr\u00ebs, Lorenc Facja, i cili prezantoi nj\u00eb p\u00ebrmbledhje t\u00eb situat\u00ebs me t\u00eb cil\u00ebn po p\u00ebrballeshin dhe masat emergjente q\u00eb ishin marr\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb siguruar sh\u00ebrbimin e furnizimit me uj\u00eb t\u00eb pijsh\u00ebm dhe kanalizimeve p\u00ebr qytetar\u00ebt.<\/p>\n

Menj\u00ebher\u00eb pas t\u00ebrmetit, u organizuan disa ekipe inspektimi n\u00eb terren nga UK Durr\u00ebs p\u00ebr t\u00eb inspektuar zon\u00ebn e plazhit t\u00eb Durr\u00ebsit si nj\u00eb nga m\u00eb t\u00eb prekurat. Ekipet inspektuan t\u00eb gjitha nd\u00ebrtesat e d\u00ebmtuara ku u nd\u00ebrpre furnizimi me uj\u00eb, p\u00ebr t\u00eb mos nd\u00ebrprer\u00eb furnizimin n\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb zon\u00ebn. \u00a0P\u00ebr m\u00eb tep\u00ebr, ekipi kishte vler\u00ebsuar tashm\u00eb statusin e rezervuar\u00ebve, stacioneve t\u00eb pompimit dhe puseve, ku aktualisht, nuk jan\u00eb regjistruar d\u00ebme kritike.<\/p>\n

On the morning of November 26, 2019, Albania was hit by the strongest earthquake recorded in decades, of 6.4 magnitudes.\u00a0 Unfortunately, 51 lives were lost, over 1000 people were injured, and many buildings collapsed and have been severely damaged, mainly in the cities of Durres and Thumane, as well as in other areas of Kruja, Tirana, Lezha and Kavaja.<\/p>\n

The early hours after the earthquake were critical to saving lives under the buildings that had collapsed.\u00a0 The team from the Technical Department of Durres Water Supply and Sewerage Company (WSSC) was quick to respond to this emergency, by setting up a verification team to assist the search and rescue operation at the collapsed facilities.\u00a0 The operation was led by the engineering staff of Durres WSSC and it was carried out by the staff of the maintenance department, who did a heroic job, under very dangerous circumstances.<\/p>\n

SHUKALB played a proactive role in offering its support to the most affected water companies mainly Durres WSSC and Kruja WSSC.\u00a0 In coordination and cooperation with the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, SHUKALB joined the team of Swiss Humanitarian Aid who arrived in Albania to offer emergency response to those affected by the earthquake.\u00a0 Engineer Fran Marku of SHUKALB together with Lucas Beck, Water Expert from Swiss Humanitarian Aid, and representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, organized meetings with representatives of both companies and conducted field inspections to examine the damages.<\/p>\n

On November 28, Marku and Beck met with Ledio Cela, Director of Kruja WSSC, where they discussed the problems caused at the water supply network. \u00a0The Swiss Humanitarian Aid and SHUKALB offered their assistance and expertize on water safety, and advised the company to intensify the water quality monitoring in these areas. \u00a0Based on the field inspections conducted, it was noticed that the in general the company had managed the situation well, with some minor defects that were repaired by the company\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n

Later that day, the team organized a meeting with Lorenc Facja, Technical Director of Durres WSSC, who presented an overview of the situation they were facing and the emergency measures taken to ensure the drinking water supply and sanitation services to citizens.<\/p>\n

Immediately after the earthquake, several field inspection teams from Durres WSSC were organized to inspect Durres beach area as the most affected one. \u00a0The teams inspected all damaged facilities where the water supply was cut off, in order not to interrupt the supply to the entire area. \u00a0In addition, the team had already assessed the status of the reservoirs, pumping stations and wells, where at this moment, no critical damages have been recorded.<\/p>\n

The most major damage affecting the water supply for the citizens of Durres was recorded on 27 November, on an old pipeline.\u00a0 The repair was carried on in a record time by the staff of the Company, who was also assisted by private companies who offered their help with necessary tools.<\/p>\n

In addition, the emergency needs were to provide remote sanitation services to the camps build to shelter the people whose houses were destroyed.\u00a0 Durres WSSC engaged to set up mobile toilets to all the camps.<\/p>\n

Also, it is worth mentioning the willingness of the Regional Water Companies of Kosova and SHUKOS, who on 27 November 2019, sent an official letter addressed to SHUKALB, Durres WSSC, and other water utilities in need, expressing their readiness to support them with technical staff and other needs as per their requirement.\u00a0 SHUKALB, on behalf of its member utilities would like to acknowledge again the solidarity and support from the Swiss Humanitarian Aid and the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, as well as that of SHUKOS and the Regional Water Companies of Kosova.[:]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
