Regional Workshop on \u201cBiogas from Waste Water Treatment \u2013 A Solution for Cost Reduction for Waste Water Utilities\u201d<\/p>\n

The Water Supply and Sewerage Association of Albania (SHUKALB) and GIZ, in its capacity as technical advisor and development partner in the Albanian water and environment sectors, will organize the Regional Dissemination Workshop on Biogas from waste water treatment that will be held on 11-12 July at Hotel City Doro in Tirana, Albania.<\/p>\n
The objective of the \u201cTechnology Transfer Biogas\u201d project is to introduce the lucrative technology of biogas generation and utilization in Albania and share lessons learned within the region. Partners of the project are coming from the relevant ministries, utilities, and institutions for research and education like the Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT).<\/p>\n
The focus of the project is on possibilities for cost reduction for Albanian wastewater utilities, through the introduction of a technology that allows for energy generation using biogas from waste water treatment processes.<\/p>\n
The scope of the workshop is the regional dissemination of the lessons learned of the project \u201cTechnology Transfer Biogas\u201d, in order to analyse the possibility of a future regional project on biogas from waste water treatment. This would also support the countries of Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro to achieve the EU Water Framework Directive and paving the way to their EU accession.<\/p>\n
