Young Water Professionals conducting their awareness campaign at the Artificial Lake for Tirana on World Water Day 2016<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n

Celebration of World Water Day has turned into a tradition now for SHUKALB and its member water utilities. As it has for the past several years, SHUKALB prepared promotional and awareness raising materials containing messages of World Water Day, and these materials were made available to water utilities all over the country.<\/p>\n

SHUKALB, together with Young Water Professionals Group of Albania, organized a public awareness event close to the Tirana Artificial Lake, where they distributed awareness leaflets with messages and useful tips on how to save water.<\/p>\n

Word Water Day at the Tepelena Water Supply Utility<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Awareness raising activities were also organized by the water supply and sewerage utitlies in the municipalities of Kor\u00e7a, Durr\u00ebs, Shkodra, Tepelena, Vlora, Elbasan Fshat, etc.<\/p>\n

World Water Day is an international observance and an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired to tell others, and take action to make a difference. World Water Day dates back to the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, where an international observance for<\/p>\n

water was recommended. The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day, and it has been held annually since then. Each year, UN-Water \u2014\u00a0the entity that coordinates the UN\u2019s work on water and sanitation \u2014sets a theme for World Water Day corresponding to a current or future challenge. The engagement campaign is coordinated by one or several of the UN-Water Members with a related mandate.<\/p>\n
