 [:en]SHUKALB is proud to announce that completed successfully the delivery of the first two training courses \u201cWater Loss Management I\u201d and \u201cWater Quality in Distribution Systems\u201d. The training courses have been developed with the support of USAID under the project \u201cSustainable Water Sector Capacity Development\u201d.<\/p>\n

The training course \u201cWater Loss Management I\u201d was organized on 17 -18 March 2016, at the Hotel Mondial in Tirana. \u00a0The course was attended by 20 participants, consisting of water utility directors, chief engineers, directors of customer service and sales, staff engineers, which represented the water utilities of Dibra, Kamza, Bulqiza, Tepelena, Fushe-Arrez, Korca, Fier, Lezha, Shkodra, Vlora and Peja (Kosova).<\/p>\n

The trainers, who are experienced professionals in the sector, included Ndricim Shani, Freelance Water<\/p>\n

Expert, and Esida Lekbello, Water and Wastewater Engineer at Valu Add Management Services.\u00a0 The training course covered topics such as Water Loss Management in Albania, Understanding of Physical Losses, Monitoring Performance of Non-Revenue Water Management, Pressure Management and Physical Loss Reduction, Conducting of Water Audits, Understanding of Commercial Losses, and Understanding of District Metered Areas (DMA).<\/p>\n

Considerable time was left for interactive questions and discussions related to the topics presented in the training. \u00a0The participants had the opportunity to practice an exercise on water balance data for calculation an water audit, where they used data from their own utilities.<\/p>\n

The training course \u201cWater Quality in Distribution System\u201d was organized on 29-30 March at the Hotel Mondial and was attended by 7 professionals from different water utilities members and non-members of SHUKALB, from all over Albania. Participants included directors, hydro- and environmental engineers, hygiene inspectors and laboratory personnel from the water utilities of Tepelena, Fushe-Arrez, Vau-Dejes, Shkodra and\u00a0Durres.<\/p>\n

The Water Quality in Distribution Systems course was delivered by Mr. Maksim Bajollari, Water Supply Expert, and Prof. Tania Floqi, Lector at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Head of the Environmental Engineering Department.\u00a0 The course covered topics such as Causes of Quality Degradation in Water Mains, Causes of Quality Degradation in Storage Facilities, Water Quality Monitoring and Cross-Connection Control, Process of Disinfection, Purpose and Agents of Disinfection, Points of Chlorine Application, Operation of Chlorination Equiment.<\/p>\n

The participants in each training course received respectively the Water Loss Management Manual and forms for conducting water audits and water balances, and the Water Quality in Distribution System Manual with Albanian Standard on Water Quality. \u00a0These documents are published by and are part of the library of Water Supply and Sewerage Association.<\/p>\n
