Edmond Lekaj, Adminstrator i Geo Consulting & Invent, shoq\u00ebria e cila ka b\u00ebr\u00eb instalimin e sistemit Web-GIS, shprehet se \u201cInvestimi n\u00eb nj\u00eb sistem GIS p\u00ebr shoq\u00ebrit\u00eb uj\u00ebsjell\u00ebs kanalizime, nuk \u00ebsht\u00eb vet\u00ebm i leverdissh\u00ebm, por \u00ebsht\u00eb b\u00ebr\u00eb i domosdosh\u00ebm\u201d. Ky sistem \u00ebsht\u00eb i detajuar dhe shum\u00eb praktik p\u00ebrsa i p\u00ebrket menaxhimit t\u00eb rrjetit, duke evidentuar me sakt\u00ebsi \u00e7do lidhje apo lokalizimin e zonave ku ka humbje t\u00eb ujit. Gjithashtu sistemi b\u00ebn t\u00eb mundur shmangien e abuzimeve t\u00eb ndryshme gjat\u00eb faturimeve t\u00eb padrejta apo investimeve n\u00eb asete.[:en]\"logo\"<\/a>In recent years there has been an increased awareness from Water Supply and Seweage (WSS) Companies on the need to invest in GIS systems that provide a geographical identification and inventory of a utility\u2019s infrastructure assets.\u00a0 Fier Water Supply and Sewerage Company is one of SHUKALB\u2019s members that recently implemented such GIS system.<\/p>\n

In an interview conducted with Ernest Gjini, Chief of the IT Department and Administrator of Web-GIS for Fier WSS Company, he explained that “WEB_GIS is a website where every employee has access to the program and can input data relevant to the sector where that employee is working, the same as an electronic inventory. WEB_GIS is not a program but a website with a corresponding orthophoto map of Albania. The implementation of Web-GIS started as a project at the Fier WSS in July 2015 and the database is continuing to be populated with data that are being input by the staff of the company, from different sectors.<\/p>\n

The benefits of this system are clear and obvious, enabling any user to access where ever they are, by<\/p>\n

phone or by any electronic device that is connected to the internet, allowing also for the modification of data that has been already entered.\u00a0 GIS enables, in real-time, the allocation of new water or sewer lines, new valves and all the other equipment that is installed in the water supply and sewerage systems. \u00a0Thanks to the use of WEB-GIS, the staff of Fier WSS Company recognises that their work has been simplified significantly easier, especially in activities related to the water supply service.\u00a0 In the beginning, it was a bit difficult to get used to the system, especially for the older employees, but it didn\u2019t take long to absorb the simple principles required and to start using it at a fast pace.<\/p>\n

This system brings an innovation in developing the inventory of assets and the same time in allocating those assets easily via GPS. \u00a0Acquiring data of a particular asset, in real time, is a huge task, and now this is a task that can be easily performed by any employee, at any time, from any geographic position, given that they have internet access. The system includes a wide range of assets of the Company, with specific details for each of them.\u00a0 Fier WSS Company will soon complete the implementation of this system andwill start to enjoy the benefits it will provide in identifying and addressing quickly the defects in the water supply network, for a better service for its customers”.<\/p>\n

Edmond Lekaj, Administrator of Geo Consulting & Invent the company that did the installation of the WEB-GIS system, stated that “Investment in GIS systems for water utilities is not about convenience only, but it has become a necessity. \u00a0This system is detailed and very practical in terms of network management, identifying accurately any connection point or the areas where there is loss of water. \u00a0The system also provides the means to avoid various abuses of unfair billing or asset investment\u201d.[:]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
