Linja kryesore e transmetimit t\u00eb uj\u00ebsjell\u00ebsit, duke filluar nga burimi n\u00eb kuot\u00ebn 809 metra do t\u00eb vazhdoj\u00eb rrug\u00ebn p\u00ebr n\u00eb stacionin hidro-elektrik t\u00eb Lana Bregasit duke p\u00ebrshkruar lugin\u00ebn n\u00eb af\u00ebrsi t\u00eb Domjes n\u00eb kuot\u00ebn e 420m, dhe m\u00eb n\u00eb fund zbret posht\u00eb n\u00eb kuot\u00ebn 320m.<\/p>\n

P\u00ebrdorimi i burimeve t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn M\u00ebris\u00eb \u00ebsht\u00eb i lidhur me prurjet e ujit t\u00eb Selit\u00ebs, pasi prurjet e ujit nga burimet ndryshojn\u00eb n\u00eb var\u00ebsi t\u00eb stin\u00ebve. \u00a0N\u00eb rastet kur prurjet e ujit nga Selita jan\u00eb t\u00eb ul\u00ebta, sasia e ujit q\u00eb merret nga Sh\u00ebn M\u00ebris\u00eb p\u00ebrmes pompave rritet, me q\u00ebllim balancimin e k\u00ebrkes\u00ebs p\u00ebr uj\u00eb nga sistemi, gj\u00eb q\u00eb rrit kostot operative. \u00a0Projekti i ri \u00ebsht\u00eb dizenjuar p\u00ebr t\u00eb rritur n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb t\u00eb konsiderueshme t\u00eb gjitha parametrat operative, duke ulur koston e prodhimit t\u00eb ujit dhe t\u00eb transmetimit.[:en]

One of the major projects currently under construction by the Tirana Water Supply and Sewerage Company is focused on a better utilization of the St. Mary’s Spring water supply source, which will greatly increase the quantity of water supply to the citizens of Tirana, save energy by transporting this source by gravity, and provide flow to the hydro-electric power station of Lana Bregas, thereby increasing the amount of electric energy produced.<\/p>\n

This investment is one of several strategic projects that will serve for the future needs of the Tirana service area, in order to anticipate the expected continued population growth, and to meet the increase in the service quality required by the customers.\u00a0 The new project of redesigning the St. Mary’s Spring water supply source is a major and ambitious undertaking, and highly necessary, considering the condition of the current water supply line, which is damaged in some parts and not efficient from a financial point of view.<\/p>\n

\"Tunnel<\/a>
Tunnel excavation through Mount Dajti<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The purpose of this construction project is to use the full capacity the St. Mary’s Spring and to not rely only on the water that flows from the Selita Spring.\u00a0 The tunnel aims to utilize the water resources based on gravity flow, avoiding the use of the pumping station of Qafe Molla, which has high maintenance and electrical energy costs.<\/p>\n

It is a complex project, because in addition to the new transmission line, it also includes excavating a tunnel through Mount Dajti, and the construction of a new pressure basin that will enable the transport of water to Lana Bregas hydro-electric power station by way of gravity flow.<\/p>\n

The five karst water supply springs, which make up this supply source, are located at the foot of Gropa Mountain in the village of St. Mary. \u00a0Water passes through the collection galleries, and flows to the collection reservoirs.\u00a0 Four of these water springs are collected in the reservoir at an elevation of 809 meters above sea level, and the fifth spring is channeled directly into the transmission line near the existing Qafe Molla pumping station.<\/p>\n

The main water transmission line, starting from the source at an elevation of 809m will continue its way to the Lana Bregas hydro-power plant by passing through the Domje Valley at an elevation of 420m, and then finally descend down to the hydro-power plant at an elevation of 320m.<\/p>\n

The natural spring supplies of Mount Dajti have not been sufficiently exploited. Since 1974, only the springs of Bovilla have been used to supply the inhabitants of Tirana using gravity flow. \u00a0The Tirana Water utility only used the St. Mary Spring for the production of electrical power through the Lana Bregas power station.\u00a0 The existing transmission line does not have the capacity to transmit the entire amount of water produced by the St. Mary Spring.\u00a0 Currently, the maximal capacity of the existing transmission line is about 650 liters per second.<\/p>\n

The use of the St. Mary Spring depends on the water flow of Selita, since the water flow from the springs varies depending on the seasons. \u00a0In cases when the water flow from Selita is low, the amount of water that is pumped from St. Mary Spring is increased, in order to balance the demand for water from the system, which increases the operating costs.\u00a0 The new project is designed to significantly increase all of the operating parameters, reducing the cost of water production and transmission.[:]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
