Valu Add Management Services, the longest private sector member of SHUKALB, recently announced that Ms. Semira Kasimati-Vathi has been promoted to the new position in the firm of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.\u00a0 Ms. Kasimati-Vathi joined Valu Add in 2000, only three months after the Owner and President of the firm, Philip Giantris, opened the office in Albania.\u00a0 Over the last 16 years, both she and the firm have grown together.<\/p>\n

Ms. Kasimati-Vathi\u2019s is a graduate of the University of Tirana with a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Management, and since joining Valu Add, she have been totally focused in building her consulting skills in the area of water utility management with particular expertise in business planning, work force development, and customer service, billing and collection practices.\u00a0 She is not only a true professional in her areas of expertise, but also a true professional manager, who understands that a manager\u2019s responsibility is as much to teach new staff that join the firm, as well as to lead them.<\/p>\n

Her professional experience goes well beyond Albania and the Western Balkans, and has included extensive involvement with water utility business planning in the Philippines and in Lebanon.\u00a0 Most recently in Albania, she has provided senior management leadership on Valu Add\u2019s assignments under the USAID Planning and Local Governance Project, and under the World Bank\u2019s Water Sector Financing Strategy Project.\u00a0 She is also providing home office oversight and consultant coordination for Valu Add\u2019s work under USAID in Nigeria related to organizational strengthening of the African Minister\u2019s Council on Water.<\/p>\n

Soon after joining Valu Add, she was \u201cput to work\u201d by Mr. Giantris, who in the same year, 2000, was working with a small group of water utility directors to form SHUKALB.\u00a0 In those early days, Ms. Kasimati-Vathi was the entire, volunteer staff of SHUKALB.\u00a0 Today, her professional involvement in the water sector has grown and she services on the Strategic Council of the International Water Association, which is based in The Hague.<\/p>\n
