Q\u00eb nga viti 2013, SHUKALB ka bashk\u00ebpunuar me Institutin Politeknik t\u00eb Worcester (WPI), SHBA, p\u00ebr nd\u00ebrmarrjen e projekteve t\u00eb vogla t\u00eb ujit dhe mjedisit q\u00eb p\u00ebrfshijn\u00eb nj\u00eb ekip student\u00ebsh t\u00eb WPI q\u00eb punojn\u00eb n\u00eb Shqip\u00ebri p\u00ebr nj\u00eb periudh\u00eb 8 javore. \u00a0K\u00ebt\u00eb vit, ekipi WPI n\u00eb bashk\u00ebpunim me SHUKALB nd\u00ebrmori nj\u00eb projekt t\u00eb titulluar ” Vler\u00ebsimi i mund\u00ebsive p\u00ebr reduktimin e ndikimeve mjedisore t\u00eb mbetjeve t\u00eb birr\u00ebs n\u00eb Shqip\u00ebri”. \u00a0Projekti kishte p\u00ebr q\u00ebllim kryesor t\u00eb punonte s\u00eb bashku me fabrikat shqiptare t\u00eb birr\u00ebs, agjencit\u00eb rregullatore dhe publikun p\u00ebr t\u00eb p\u00ebrpiluar k\u00ebrkime mbi praktikat aktuale dhe p\u00ebr t\u00eb zhvilluar insentiva dhe rekomandime p\u00ebr p\u00ebrmir\u00ebsimin e menaxhimit t\u00eb mbetjeve t\u00eb birr\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

Me mb\u00ebshtetjen e SHUKALB, ekipi i WPI vizitoi fabrika t\u00eb ndryshme t\u00eb birrave n\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb Shqip\u00ebrin\u00eb dhe zhvilloi intervista dhe vizita p\u00ebr t\u00eb vler\u00ebsuar se si secila fabrik\u00eb birre menaxhon mbetjet e saj. \u00a0Ekipi b\u00ebri nj\u00eb studim k\u00ebrkimor mbi rregulloret aktuale shqiptare dhe mblodhi intervista me p\u00ebrfaq\u00ebsues t\u00eb industris\u00eb s\u00eb trajtimit t\u00eb uj\u00ebrave t\u00eb ndotura p\u00ebr t\u00eb krijuar nj\u00eb korniz\u00eb t\u00eb plot\u00eb t\u00eb ndikimeve t\u00eb mbetjeve t\u00eb birr\u00ebs n\u00eb mjedis.<\/p>\n

M\u00eb 10 dhjetor 2019, ekipi i WPI dhe stafi i SHUKALB u mblodh\u00ebn n\u00eb Tiran\u00eb, ku ekipi prezantoi raportin p\u00ebrfundimtar t\u00eb studimit dhe rezultatin e projektit. \u00a0T\u00eb pranish\u00ebm n\u00eb k\u00ebt\u00eb aktivitet ishin edhe Prof. Robert Kinicki dhe Prof. Robert Hersh nga Instituti Politeknik i Worcester.<\/p>\n

Since 2013, SHUKALB has been collaborating with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), USA, on undertaking small water and environment projects that involve a team of WPI students working in Albania for a period of 8 weeks. \u00a0This year, the WPI team in collaboration with SHUKALB undertook a project titled \u201cAssessing Opportunities to Reduce the Environmental Impacts of Brewery Waste in Albania\u201d.\u00a0 The main goal of the project was to work alongside Albanian breweries, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to compile research on current practices and develop incentives and recommendations for improvements in brewery waste management.<\/p>\n

With the support of SHUKALB, the WPI team visited various breweries across Albania and conducted interviews and tours to assess how each brewery manages their waste. \u00a0The team conducted a research on current Albanian regulations and gathered interviews to members of the wastewater treatment industry to get a full picture of the impacts of brewery waste on the environment.<\/p>\n

As part of the study, the research team conducted a consumer survey through SHUKALB\u2019s communication tools, to find out more about what drives the beer market in the country.\u00a0 In addition, the team identified incentives for breweries to improve their practices by conducting a cost benefit analysis and surveying Albanian beer consumers.<\/p>\n

On 10 December 2019, the WPI team and SHUKALB staff gathered in Tirana, where the team presented the final study report and the outcome of the project. \u00a0Present at the event were also Prof. Robert Kinicki and Prof. Robert Hersh from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.<\/p>\n
