The \u201cAsset Management in Water Utilities in Albania\u201d Project which is being implemented from SHUKALB in 19 Water Utilities continues with the fulfilment of its objectives and the implementation of its activities.<\/p>\n

The project is offered in the framework of the \u201cAsset Management Advisory Services to Water Utilities in South-Eastern Europe\u201d Program, through a partnership between Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), Hydro-Comp Enterprises Ltd. Cyprus, and the International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD).\u00a0 The program is part of the Danube Learning Partnership (D-Leap), a regional, integrated and sustainable capacity building initiative of national water utility associations and IAWD.<\/p>\n

On 9 December 2020, SHUKALB conducted the 3rd<\/sup> workshop of the project which aimed to present the progress of the project in 2020, for the 19 water utilities in the Phase I and Phase II of the project and to inform them about the next steps. The workshop was attended by the directors and the staff of 19 water utilities part of the project, and from other water utilities and representatives from central government institutions as Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Water Regulatory Authority in Albania as well as representatives of IFIs and donors to include GIZ and SECO.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the second advanced training for the 8 water utilities of Progradec, Korce, Maliq, Kruje, Kamez, Kukes, Gjirokaster and Lushnje, which are in the Silver Level, was organized virtually on 22nd<\/sup> and 23rd<\/sup> December 2020. The objective of the training was to train the staff of these Water Utilities on the advanced methods of the Network Data Management. The training was delivered by the Asset Management (AM) team of experts from SHUKALB.<\/p>\n

Parallel to these activities, the AM team has conducted field visits to some of the water utilities to include Lushnje, Maliq, Korce, Pogradec, Peqin, Kavaja, Elbasan, Berat, Kamez, Kukes and Kruje. During these visits, the AM team together with the responsible staff of the utilities worked on the collection and verification of the data in the field. Also, additional work has been done with some utilities, starting from scratch with the digitalization of the water network data.<\/p>\n

Regardless of the situation with the COVID \u2013 19 pandemic, SHUKALB is pleased to have accomplished effectively the objectives of the project for this year, and to see the progress of each water utility, and is looking forward to another successful and productive year ahead.[:]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
