During 12-14 October 2022, in Tirana, SHUKALB delivered successfully the 3-day training on “Technology”, in framework of the Capacity Development Program titled \u201cIntroduction of Wastewater Systems for managers and engineers\u201d, which is being piloted for the first time in the framework of the Project Regional Capacity Development Network for Water and Sanitation Services (RCDN).<\/p>\n

The training was attended by representatives from Water Supply and Sewerage Companies of Vlora, Shkoder, Lezhe, Kamez, Fier and Himare, as well as Municipalities of Vlore and Lezhe. The training was led by Prof. Enkelejda Gjinali, Lecturer, Polytechnic University of Tirana, Eng. Enkeleda Basha, Manager of Durres Wastewater Treatment Plant and Eng. Blerina Arrtunda, Manager of the Shiroka and Velipoja Wastewater Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n

The overall objective of the training was for participants to be able to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on how be active during the planning and implementation of wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure.<\/p>\n

During the 3 days of the training participants were introduced to topics such as Type of Sewage Systems; Decentralized vs Centralized system; Wastewater and treatment Systems; Sludge Treatment; Integrated Water Resource Management; Integrated Urban Water Management and Natural based Storm water management. In addition, they were engaged in practical group exercises, and in interactive discussions regarding the topics presented.<\/p>\n

Participants will now be able to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • To motivate others for the topic of wastewater.<\/li>\n
  • To describe the different types of sewer systems and to summarize their advantages and disadvantages.<\/li>\n
  • To describe the differences between centralized and decentralized systems and to summarize their advantages and disadvantages.<\/li>\n
  • To explain important criteria for the WWTP site selection.<\/li>\n
  • To recall main elements of sustainable O&M and the source of the effluent standard.<\/li>\n
  • To identify the largest environmental issues on a WWTP.<\/li>\n
  • To describe the most common treatment technologies and sludge disposal.<\/li>\n
  • To list the key elements of integrated water resource management, integrated urban water management and natural-storm water management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    This 3-day training was the second one of the \u201cIntroduction of Wastewater Systems for Managers and Engineers\u201d program. The program will continue during November 2022, with the delivery of training on “Management of Infrastructure Projects”, and a peer exchange on “Management of Infrastructure Projects”.<\/p>\n

    Furthermore, on 26-27 October 2022, in Tirana, RCDN organized a Specific Training of Trainers (ToT) in framework of CD program \u201cIntroduction of Wastewater Systems for managers and engineers\u201d with the participation of the 8 trainers who are engaged in delivery of this program.<\/p>\n
