During November 2022, at the premises of Albanian Prime Minister’s Office the Government of Albania and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed an agreement which will allocate funds worth 61 million euros for investments by Durres Water Supply and Sewerage Company to its water supply network. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj and the French Secretary of State for Europe, Laurence Bonne, in the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Ambassador of France in Tirana, Elisabeth Barsacq.<\/p>\n

Of the total amount, 60 million euros are loans, while 1 million are grants. The investment includes 3 components:<\/p>\n

Component 1<\/strong>: Reconstruction of the distribution network in the city of Durres, which consists of:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Rehabilitation of the main water supply networks<\/li>\n
  • Construction of main wells and installation of zonal gates<\/li>\n
  • Reservoir with a volume of 2000 m3<\/li>\n
  • Action plan for reducing administrative losses<\/li>\n
  • Action plan for reducing physical losses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Component 2<\/strong>: Rehabilitation of the \u201cFushe Kuqe\u201d system, which consists of:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Monitoring of the wells system and their protection<\/li>\n
    • Rehabilitation of wells and pipelines<\/li>\n
    • Rehabilitation of the central station and water collection reservoir<\/li>\n
    • Partial rehabilitation of the DN700 main pipeline<\/li>\n
    • Rehabilitation of the pressure relief reservoir<\/li>\n
    • Monitoring of the main pipeline<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Component 3<\/strong>: Sewerage network master plan, which consists of:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Compilation of the Master Plan for Sewers covering the entire Durres water utility service area on sewerage projects until 2040, as well as technical assistance for the organization of all the utility services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The implementation of the AFD project according to its constituent components will enable:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • Continuous supply by 24 hours per day for the city area<\/li>\n
        • Reduction of technical losses in the city<\/li>\n
        • Reduction of technical losses in the existing DN 700 pipeline to Fushe Kuqe<\/li>\n
        • Reduction of non-revenue water<\/li>\n
        • Improvement of the sewerage service<\/li>\n
