Albanian Delegation Engages Actively at the 2025 Danube Water Conference in Vienna<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The 2025 Danube Water Conference, held from 14\u201316 May in Vienna, brought together 216 participants from 27 countries\u2014including 15 Danube region countries and, for the first time, representatives from Central Asia. Under the theme \u201cLooking Back, Looking Forward,\u201d the event featured over 60 distinguished speakers and contributors, addressing pressing issues and future directions in the water sector.<\/p>\n

A strong Albanian delegation took part in the conference, including representatives from public water utilities, the National Water Supply and Sewerage Agency (AKUK), the Water Regulatory Authority (WRA), private companies, and SHUKALB. Their active participation underscored Albania\u2019s commitment to advancing water sector reforms and sharing regional best practices.<\/p>\n

Among the speakers at the conference was Petrit Tare, Administrator of Kor\u00e7a Regional Water Supply and Sewerage Company and President of SHUKALB. He contributed to the session titled \u201cBeyond Utility Reach? How to Close the Urban \u2013 Rural Access Gap,\u201d<\/em> held on 16 May 2025. Through his presentation, \u201cAlbania\u2019s Water Sector Regionalization Reform: A Perspective from the Kor\u00e7a Regional Water Company,\u201d<\/em> Mr. Tare shared insights into the implementation of Albania\u2019s major water sector reforms. He focused on how Kor\u00e7a water utility has successfully expanded its services to rural areas following the Administrative-Territorial Reform of 2015 and the Regionalization Reform of 2022, while still maintaining financial sustainability of the utility and level of services.<\/p>\n

SHUKALB is proud of the Albanian delegation\u2019s contributions at this important regional conference and remains dedicated to strengthening cooperation and innovation in the water sector.<\/p>\n
