SHUKALB is proud to announce that our Executive Director, Elisabeta Poci, has been elected Vice President of the European Water Association (EWA) during the EWA Council Meeting held in Oslo, Norway, on 27 May 2025. This prestigious appointment marks a significant recognition of her longstanding dedication and contributions to the water sector\u2014not only in Albania and across the Danube region, but also at the international level.<\/p>\n

The following day, on 28 May 2025, Ms. Poci represented SHUKALB and the regional perspective at the EWA and Norwegian Water Association Spring Seminar, held in Oslo and themed:
\n\u201cShaping the Future of Water Management in Europe: Increasing the Value of Water Through the Revised Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD)\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ms. Poci was a featured speaker in Session I: European Water Resources \u2013 Status and Impact of Pollution in the Context of Emerging Pressures, where she delivered a presentation titled:
\n\u201cWastewater Challenges and Opportunities in the Danube Region: A State of the Sector Report Perspective.\u201d In her presentation, she shared some of the preliminary findings of the State of the Sector, an analytical study of the World Bank, in the frame of the Danube Water program, previously presented at the 2025 Danube Water Conference in Vienna.<\/p>\n

The seminar, which gathered water professionals, policymakers, and experts from across Europe, provided an important platform to discuss the impacts of the revised UWWTD and how countries can work together to achieve higher environmental and public health standards.<\/p>\n

Elisabeta\u2019s election to the EWA leadership and her active role in this significant European dialogue marks a proud milestone for SHUKALB and the Albanian water sector. This achievement is especially meaningful in the context of Albania\u2019s accelerating journey toward EU integration. It underscores our dedication to fostering peer exchange and expanding networking opportunities, with the goal of bringing home valuable best practices and insights from EU member states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
