On May 20, 2025, SHUKALB participated in the Online Exchange on the RCDN+ Data Management Framework (DMF), an event held via MS Teams and attended by regional associations and international partners. The exchange was part of RCDN\u2019s ongoing efforts to support capacity development in data management among water associations.<\/p>\n

Alban Kushi, Manager of Member Services at SHUKALB, presented the association\u2019s journey in implementing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, under the title “SHUKALB\u2019s CRM Journey \u2013 Insights & Lessons Learned.”<\/em> His presentation highlighted the need for CRM due to fragmented data, inefficient communication, and a lack of centralized systems for managing events, trainings, and membership.<\/p>\n

With support from the RCDN project, SHUKALB adopted the open-source CiviCRM platform. The implementation involved both internal and external resources and included data migration, system customization, staff training, and testing. The full process, from setup to operational readiness, was completed in just under three months.<\/p>\n

Alban emphasized how the CRM has helped centralize member data, streamline communication, and save time through automation. While some features intended for direct member use are still to be activated, the system has already improved service delivery and internal efficiency.<\/p>\n

In reflecting on lessons learned, he stressed the importance of aligning technology with real organizational needs and involving internal teams early in the process. He also cautioned against allowing IT vendors to make decisions without fully considering the association\u2019s specific requirements.<\/p>\n

The session provided an opportunity for all participants to reflect on how the newly introduced DMF fits into their own operations. SHUKALB\u2019s experience served as a valuable example of how digital tools can enhance association management when implemented thoughtfully and strategically.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
